Canyon of the Dragon

Experience nature and let the walls come closer.  In the Dragon Gorge, the narrowest part of the hiking trail is no wider than 70 cm. In the legendary Dragon Gorge south of Eisenach, romantics, nature lovers and geologists alike get their money's worth. In the narrow gorge, you walk on footbridges over a rushing stream.

You start your tour in the Mariental valley near Eisenach and walk through the impressive Landgrafenschlucht gorge up to the Großer Drachenstein. After enjoying the magnificent view there, you continue along the wine route to the Hohe Sonne directly on the Rennsteig. After a short break at the Hohe Sonne barbecue, you descend through the Drachenschlucht gorge, at the end of which the Mariental valley awaits you again. The tour is exciting and fascinating, especially for children. There is much to discover and explore.

TIP: For all the little ones, there is a dragon quiz to take home at the tourist information office at the market. There you can pick up a small gift after the hike and if the solution is correct.

To have a great experience on a bike, you don't always have to travel to the far south. Low mountain ranges, such as the Thuringian Forest, have a very special charm – especially with its short, crisp climbs, impressive landscapes and trails in all degrees of difficulty ...

Bike & Boat Adventure

The Bike & Boat Tour is particularly suitable for those looking for a real adventure.You start with the packraft boat in the western town of Eisenach and paddle on the Hörsel to the origin of the Rennsteig. After about 3 hours of paddling, you will reach the village of Hoerschel. If you wish, you will be treated to a homemade Thuringian lunch picnic here. Afterwards you will cycle on and along the Rennsteig back to Eisenach. The bike tour is accompanied by a guide from our cooperation partner "Radstube Eisenach". This gives you the opportunity to visit one or two insider tips and learn interesting facts about the region.

The mountain bike tour back to Eisenach takes about 3 hours. The bikes are taken to the start of the tour on a shuttle trailer.

Luther experience days

Experience the time of the Reformation up close. Discover Eisenach in the footsteps of the reformer and visit his places of work. A medieval meal in the Lutherstuben will take you back to the 16th century.

Vintage car "Wartburg"

A look at the history of the Autostadt with this arrangement, nostalgics and technology freaks will get their money's worth. Cars have been built at the foot of the Wartburg in Thuringia since 1898. Under the brand names DIXI, BMW, EMW, WARTBURG and OPEL, they stand for Eisenach engineering and automotive tradition all over the world.

The last Wartburg rolled off the production line at the "VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach" in 1991. As a special offer, we provide our guests not only with a guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wartburg Castle with a visit to the Palas and the Luther Room, but also give detailed insights into automobile manufacturing in Eisenach during a visit to the "Automobile World Eisenach". The whole experience is rounded off with a guided drive through the Thuringian Forest in a historic Wartburg. Immerse yourself in the world of automotive tradition in Eisenach!

Cultural City Trip with Villa District

Travel back in time and marvel at the arts and works of poets, thinkers and musicians who once lived and worked in Thuringia.

Start the third day of your trip with a visit to the Museum "Bach House" and listen to the sounds of instruments from the period. Then walk to the nearby Georgenkirche (church) and admire the baptismal font of Bach, who was born and baptised in Eisenach. Afterwards, let yourself be enchanted by one of Germany's largest villa districts; with imposing monuments from different eras, magnificent gardens and beautiful views that always promise a glimpse of Wartburg Castle. End the day with a sundowner on the Panorama Trail in Eisenach and enjoy an unforgettable view over the roofs of the city.
